Roses are red, violets are blue, blah, blah and blah…lol. If you’ve got a problem with the way I ended it, then maybe you should have a go at it. Anyways it’s February, the month of loveeee and I’m pretty sure most of y’all are probably brain storming and cracking yah brains right now, thinking about that perfect gift to buy to make a love statement. Because Jollyhood’s always looking out for you, we’re going to assist by letting you on movies, sitcoms and talk shows you can share with that special someone this month. But I’ve been accused of talking about only foreign stuff on the blog, so I’m going to keep it strictly naija today. But let’s be objective guys, you can’t exactly blame moi. It isn’t my fault if out of 10 Nigerian movies, only one maybe considered cinema worthy and I emphasize the word…maybe. All it means is that nollyhood has work to do on improving the quality of movies we produce. But in the meantime since we always aim to please, we’ll try to review more naija films. It should please some of you to know I’m keeping it strictly naija today.
To start off, Lagos based MC and gospel comedian (hmm… that’s a new one), Dr Shogo has a tv show premiering this month called “Cup of Latfa. Had a sneak preview so I can ensure you its funny and original; not your usual talk show runs. Besides lafta is something that’s especially needed in our country like ours. We can certainly do with all the doses of lafta we lay our hands on. So bring it on Dr Shogo! Showing time is 9.45 to 10pm, Saturdays on Lagos State Television (LTV). Stay tuned for more details.
Then we’ve “Couple of Days”, a romantic comedy directed by Tolu Awobiyi popularly known as Lord Tanner and produced by Ayo Orunmiyi. The movie tells the story of three young couples who decide to head out to Ibadan on a romantic getaway, however their happy break is marred when secrets are revealed that threaten their marriages, making them question if a “happy after ever” is actually possible. Nominated for Best Cinematography by Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA). It features Nigerian rapper, Falz, The Bad Guy and starrs Kiki Omeli, Eyinna Nwigwe, among other talented young cast. Sounds rad doesn’t it? Showing at the cinemas from February 5th. I hear there are gifts attached to buying a ticket so what have you got to lose? Make sure you take that special someone to go see the movie. And when I say “take” I don’t mean only the guys either. Curious to know why people automatically assume the guys should do the taking out. Ladies take out your loved ones oh! No crime in it. For sneak peek, click on the movie poster.
Also from the stables of Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen of Wells Entertainment, the Producers of the epic movie “Invasion 1897” comes a sitcom titled “Star Rhymes” screen played by yours truly Jollyhood Pictures. It tells the story of a young Benin who convinced he’s the next hit rapper, and heads for Lagos in search of big lights and even bigger dough. “Star Rhymes” is crazy fun and off the hook hilarious. You can check out the trailer on our YouTube page http://www.youtube.com/JoyOhiaeri.
Hope with these productions, that I’ve been able to convince you and not confuse you that we’re proudly naija at Jollyhood Pictures. Lol. Relic from my debating days. Thanks Christipher for your comment. We heard you loud and clear. Hope you like today’s post and let us know what you think, you know we always love to hear from our readers. Take care peeps. And remember never stop watching the movies.
