In With The New

Hello! I’m so excited because this promises to be an amazing year. As it should considering I had five amazing days last week gaining speed for 2016. I feel like I can do anything and I’m going to. But no sitting back watching moi take off because you’re running with me. Remember we made some kind of pact at the beginning of the year to keep each IMG_20160112_104314other on track to help achieve our goals? Well I’m going to hold you to it and hopefully so can you (wink). Already have someone that bugs me endlessly and while I appreciate his wanting to keep me on track, wish he would lay off a little and stop being such a pain in the…. somewhere? Lol. But it does help to have someone who keeps you on your toes so if you’ve got a SMART tool we could use as a productivity benchmark, please feel free to share.

On to what we live for; the movies. Got a lot of exciting ones lined up for the year and like to share some I consider a must watch:
We’ve got “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”. As you must know “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as of January 10 is considered the highest grossing film in North America with $1.7billion and the third-highest of all time topping Avatar as the most watched film. So let’s see how this one does.

“Star Trek Beyond”. More intergalactic action for sci fi fans with Zoe Saldana and Idris Elba.

“X-Men Apocalypse”, the 9th installment of the franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence. Fans of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will be disappointed…because I’m not sure he’s in this one! Guess the franchise has decided to go with “in with the new” and “out with the old” theme. Anyway Jackman or not it’s a must watch for us.

“The Magnificent Seven”. Chris Pratt and iconic Denzel Washington team up in this western movie about seven gunmen who come together to help a poor village against savage thieves.

“Captain America: Civil War”. Yay! The 3rd series of the franchise is finally here. Loved the 2nd with the combo of Chris Evans (who looks like he was specifically molded for the Captain America role) and Scarlett Johansson. Pray this is just as interesting or more.

“The Divergent Series: Allegiant”. Well it would appear the producers of this franchise may have found a money bag hence turning the movie into a franchise. Divergent was ok but I didn’t see much of a story line with Insurgent. The latest release sees Beatrice and Tobias (Four) venture outside the fence… blah, blah, blah.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows”. Yes our teenage turtles, Leo, Donny, Mickey and Raphael are back. Thought the 2014 remake was hilariously. Hope they retain the same ensemble for this sequel.

“Now You See Me 2”. If you were captivated by the Robin Hood- style magic spectacles of the four horsemen in part one, then two is a must watch.

“Independence Day: Resurgence”. After two decades, the nineties movie featuring Will Smith is making a comeback with a sequel. The movie stars Liam Hemsworth and Joey King.

Animation fans should definitely try out “Zootopia” about a rookie rabbit cop and fugitive fox con artist who must work together to uncover a conspiracy. Sounds hilarious, right? With Idris Elba and Ginnifer Goodwin.

More fun for animation lovers with “Kung Fu Panda 3”. The 3rd installment continues with the “legendary adventures of awesomeness” by Po.kungfupanda3-600_size3
“The Jungle Book”. Another remake of the hit animation about the orphan boy raised in the jungle by wild animals. Remember the song “The Bare Necessities” from the movie. I loved that Jungle Book movie and hope this one lives up to it. With the voices of Scarlett Johansson and Idris Alba. Wonder what’s with Idris and his new found love for animation?article_post_width_disney-jungle-book-cast
Ice Age: Collision Course”. Scrat’s epic pursuit of his elusive acorn catapults him outside of earth this time. With voices of Simon Pegg and Jennifer Lopez.

“The Legend of Tarzan”. Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Alexander Skarsgard. Tarzan having acclimated to life in London is called back to the jungle to investigate a mining encampment.

“The Huntsman Winter’s War”. Our darling Chris Hemsworth is Eric the Huntsman and with his forbidden love sets out to stop two evil sisters intent on conquering the land.

Not to leave out the horror fans, we should watch “The Boy”. A nanny is shocked to discover that her new ward is a life sized doll that really might be alive. Reminds you the Chucky doesn’t it? Hope this is better cos moi was no fan of the Chucky Series.

Another must watch is “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”. Jane Austen’s classic tale of tangled relationships is spiced up with a new challenge—an army of zombies. Sounds weird right? However are they going to combine that classic story with zombies?

Sci fi fans should also try out “The 5th Wave”. Four waves of deadly alien attacks have left the earth decimated and a young girl is on the run to save her younger brother before the fifth wave hits…I think.

For the comedy there’s “Fifty Shades of Black”, a parody of the novel/movie so named starring Marlon Wayans.

Let’s end this run with “Passengers“. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt star in this sci fi about a distant colony planet. Pratt, Lawrence and Idris seem to have it locked down in Hollywood this year? Good for them!

That’s twenty new movies for us to watch, so we better get cracking. Don’t forget Jollyhood’s free advert bonanza is still on, so I’ll be sending in my ads pronto if I were you. Take care and have an amazing week.
