GOT: Characters in 21st Century Businesses???

There always seem to be so much to do and so little time to accomplish all of it. Yeah, that’s my way of apologizing for being MIA last week *Puppy dog face* Lol! That’s why I’m eternally grateful to my friend, Teni for putting together this interesting read on GOT characters in 21st Century businesses. Take it away, Teni!

One of the most spectacular shows of the decade, the Game of Thrones, just concluded it’s 7th season with fans worldwide anticipating each new episode with great impatience. Which is to be expected considering the millions of dollars spent on filming every season to make it a masterpiece. It’s clear that the “Game of Thrones” series itself is an extremely successful business generating significant profits. And not for nothing! Thrilling storylines, unique characters, great settings, costumes, and visual effects – all of which immerses the viewers in a mysterious, fantasy world that is hard to escape.

But let`s imagine that our favorite GOT characters were business entrepreneurs today. What do you think their business preferences would be? Well this is my take:

PETER BAELISH (LITTLE FINGER) – POLITICIAN

I start with little finger. Initially a Baratheon loyalist, then a Lannister loyalist, a Bolton loyalist, a Stark loyalist, then he finally acquired the title of the Lord Protector of the Vale. Let’s face it this one is simple. Little finger is a master of deception, a liar, a traitorous opportunist who will willingly; betray anybody for his own selfish reasons. He would gladly burn down the world if he can rule over the ashes. To me he is a typical politician, and if thrusted into our today he would most likely run for a political office.

LORD VARYS – SPYMASTER
Varys, also called the Spider, is a eunuch and courtier who served initially as Master of Whisperers, the spymaster for the king of the Seven Kingdoms at the royal court in King’s Landing and later on to The Dragon Queen. As the Master of Whisperers he is feared by nobles and common people alike. He knows all of the secret passages in the royal castle and his spies are found everywhere. He is a skilled manipulator and commands a network of informants across two continents. Today he would make an excellent CIA agent or Mossad spy.

MISSANDEI – TRANSLATION SERVICES.

Missandei, initially a slave interpreter, joined Daenerys Targaryen becomiing her trusted advisor and handmaiden. Portrayed by Nathalie Emmanuel, Missandei has one of the most dramatic love storylines in the “Game of Thrones” series. Being an interpreter suggests that Missandei could start a translation services bureau or offer foreign language courses as her online business. Finding clients online can be a serious source of income for a venture like this, and a mobile-friendly website ensures that language services will be accessible on any platform and device.

GREY WORM – TORGO NUDHO BODYGUARD SERVICES.

Grey Worm is a warrior-eunuch slave, now the commander of Unsullied Army and a trusted adviser of Daenerys Targaryen. Portrayed by Jacob Anderson, Grey Worm as a trained warrior skilled in warfare, could easily provide security or bodyguard services. Therefore he’s ideal for a security services company.

ARYA – ASSASSINATION BUREAU.

Arya Stark is a rebellious role model for teenage girls worldwide. Her character has evolved over the course of events from Season 1 to 7. Portrayed by Maisie Williams, Arya Stark is the younger daughter and a third child of Lord Eddard (Ned) Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark. Arya is known for her tough, tomboyish ways, and talents in the area of elimination. Thinking of what business would best suit Arya, “killer for hire” most likely. Strange choice? Not quite. Just look at the scene with Walder Frey or the ease with which she dispatched of Little Finger. She would definitely make a great assassin in our time.

TYRION LANNISTER – TYRION DRINKS & BEVERAGES.

Lord Tyrion Lannister (“the Imp” or “the Halfman“) is one of the most popular characters of the GOT series. Portrayed by a talented Peter Dinklage, Tyrion is the youngest child of Lord Tywin Lannister and younger brother of Cersei and Jaime Lannister. He is known for his wit and sharp tongue as well as for the love of alcoholic beverages and socially irresponsible women. I guess one of the best options for him would be to set up an online wine shop or wine market.

KHAL DROGO – DOTHRAKI HORSE CLUB.

Khal Drogo, portrayed by Jason Momoa, is a ruthless warlord of the nomadic horse-riding tribe The Dothraki, fierce warriors. A marriage arrangement between Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen gave her the title Khaleesi (Queen). As an expert horse rider, it makes sense if he owned a horse ranch or an exclusive horse club.

DAENERYS – DRAGON MODEL AGENCY.

And now for Daenerys Targaryen, my personal favourite. The story of Daenerys is about the ultimate transformation a female can experience; from a being bargaining tool to becoming a formidable opponent. George R.R. Martin depicts clearly in the GOT series how far Daenerys has come from being devoid of the slightest authority to becoming a figure of power and strength. Portrayed by Emilia Clarke, Daenerys Stormborn, The Dragon Queen is one of the most beautiful women on the show. A career in modelling would be a good choice for Dany. I’m not sure she has any other skill sets and is almost useless without her dragons!

RAMSAY – DOG`S BREEDER.

Ramsay Bolton was one of the most despicable characters in the “Game of Thrones” saga (was dispatched to hell in Season 6). An extreme sadist, known for his cruelty and savagery, the remarkable portrayal of Ramsay Bolton by Iwan Rheon attracted viewers’ attention despite the character’s evil ways. If Ramsay decided to start a business, a dog kennel would probably suit him best of all.

HIGH SPARROW – CHURCH BUSINESS.

The High Sparrow is a religious figure, leader of the religious movement the “Sparrows“. Like any regular priest, he performs traditional duties like giving names to the newborn children, absolving sins and performing the necessary marriage arrangements. Without a doubt, The High Sparrow would like to have a platform, to preach his faith and convert the neophytes.

Tenidade Aroloye

Interesting right? But I have to disagree with some stuff like Daenerys being useless without her dragons. A tad harsh I think. She’s proved to be more than a pretty face. Can definitely picture her leading a mass protest to the Capitol. And I also believe Lord Tyrion might add an “escort service” to his wine shop as well. That aside, I think Teni hit the nail on the head for our GOT characters in today’s 21st Century businesses. Except he didn’t draw up business models for our beloved Jon Snow or the murderous Cersei (your guess is as good as mine as to what career she’ll be practicing today).

I love to hear your take on career options for GOT characters. You can forward your articles to info@jollyhoodpictures.com. XoXo guys!

Nobody nearly achieves success, as Cercci said in the game of thrones you win or you die, if he rescues his sister then……..
        But i doubt it.

Nice one though I also don’t agree with the role u chose for Daenerys, Aryas today business could have been softened because she doesn’t just go about killing people. You also left out our beloved Jon Snow.

Nice piece, but I think Jon snow will make a good young visionary leader in our today’s world if only the older politicians can give his likes the chance to get into office n rule
While cersei on the contrary would make a very bad role model for aspiring female leaders.

Well, Teni you try. But I would have expected more than the simple character description. For example a Brandon Stark doing Netflix things. And who leaves out the main characters from such descriptions?
