Hello! Believe you’re having an awesome weekend. I thought we check out the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. Speaking of, I think our lawmakers deserve an award for “The Funniest Lawmakers of all Time”. Just check this out. Hilariously isn’t it? Hope they find the missing budget soonest. The economy seriously needs a full download of funds right now. Maybe they could engage the services of the CIA, MI6, Mossad, KGB… Focusing on the real awards, “The Revenant” an American semi-biographical western film starring Leonardo
DiCaprio and Tom Hardy set in1823 Montana and South Dakota, inspired by the experiences of frontiersman and fur trapper Hugh Glass lead the pack with 4 Golden Globe nominations and won three. The movie. was also nominated for 12 Academy Awards. Wow! Only proves what I’ve always known, that while the special effects, action, violence and sexual themed movies may make it big at the box office, they hardly make it to the Oscars for the simple reason of lacking a plot or great dialogue. Feel to contradict moi if you think otherwise. Below is a list of some Golden winners: Best Motion Picture, Drama- “The Revenant”. Beating “Mad Max”. Like I said story over violence…
Best performance by an actor in a motion picture, drama- Leonardo DiCaprio. He beat Michael Fassbender “Steve Jobs” and Will Smith’s “Concussion” to clinch the win.
Best director, motion picture- Alejandro González Iñárritu “The Revenant” Best motion picture, musical or comedy- “The Martian”. I have no idea how the movie got into that category and won…(lips sealed) Best performance by an actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy – Matt Damon “The Martian”. Best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy– Jennifer Lawrence. Best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture– Sylvester Stallone “Creed”. Stallone’s reprisal of the role of Rocky Balboa earned him his first Golden Globe since 1998.
Best performance by actress in a supporting role in a motion picture- Kate Winslett “Steve Jobs” Best screenplay, motion picture- Aaron Sorkin “Steve Jobs”. Best motion picture, animated- “Inside out”. I totally agree with that one. Best television series, drama – “Mr. Robot,” USA. “Mr Robot” beat Fox’s “Empire” and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” for that one
. How? Beats me. Wonder what’s their criteria for picking a winner? Sorry fans of “Empire” and “Game of Thrones” but the Golden Globes have always been considered somewhat controversial in comparison to its counterparts. Best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a series, limited series or motion picture made for television- Christian Slater “Mr. Robot”. Best original song, motion picture- “Writing’s on the Wall,” “Spectre” Best performance by an actress in a TV series, drama-Taraji P. Henson , “Empire“. She beat Viola Davies “How to Get Away with Murder” and Robin Wright “House of Cards” to clinch that one. Way to go Cookie!
Best performance by an actor in a television series, drama– Jon Hamm, “Mad Men” Best performance by an actor in a television series, musical or comedy– Gael García Bernal, “Mozart in the Jungle”. Best television series, musical or comedy – “Mozart in the Jungle”.
Best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, limited series or motion picture made for television- Maura Tierney, “The Affair“. Best performance by an actress in a leading role in a series, limited series or motion picture made for television – Lady Gaga, “American Horror Story: Hotel. It would seem Lady Gaga has decided to follow in the steps of her music colleagues by taking to the screen. Congrats to her. Best performance by an actress in a television series, musical or comedy– Rachel Bloom, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend“. She beat Gina Rodriguez of “Jane the Virgin” to it. Awww…was kind of rooting for her. Better luck next time Gina! That’s it for the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, congrats to all the winners. The Oscars are up next but there are already some controversies brimming in form of racial and professional snobbery. Well, it’s to be expected. You definitely can’t please everyone. But Jollyhood always tries to which is why we’re giving away a freebie to the lucky winner who can tell who these beautiful actresses below are?
As usual the first correct answer gets our freebie. Much love people and remember to keep watching the movies. Bye bye!
